Parking is available in the supermarket car park opposite the entrance to the church. \nNon members are always welcome.  The meeting is free to members.  Non-members are asked to pay £1 on the door. \nThe Shepherd Wheel on the Porter Brook in Whiteley Woods is a rare survivor of the days when Sheffield’s rivers were a hive of industry.  The site has been restored and is now open as a working museum.  Come and hear Jo Pye talking about the history of the wheel\, how it operated and the people who worked there.

DESCRIPTION:As a result of suggestions from a members’ questionnaire completed in January 2016 three family history workshops have been planned for Tuesday 11 October\, Thursday 20 October and Tuesday 1 November 2016. The sessions\, aimed at helping members find ways of breaking down brick walls\, will be held at St Mary’s Church and Conference Centre\, Bramall Lane\, Sheffield\, S2 4QZ where there is free parking. The workshops will run from 10.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and refreshments will be available to buy. \nThe presenter will be Brian Smailes who has taught family history to adults for over fifteen years. The sessions will be part taught but there will also be opportunities for individuals to seek help with their particular research problems. There should be something for everyone\, whatever their level of experience! \nThe maximum number of places for each session is 9 and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
