DESCRIPTION:The Annual Conference of the Local Population Studies Society 2019 will take place in Sheffield this year. The theme of the day is ‘Let’s talk of graves’: Mortality and graveyards\, c.1700-c.1950′.  Attendance is open to anyone and you can download the full programme and a booking form from the Local Population Studies Society website. This is an opportunity to hear a number of speakers from the universities of Cambridge\, Edinburgh\, Newcastle and York as well as a couple of familiar faces: Janet Ridler speaking about ‘Sheffield’s hidden necropolis’ (General Cemetery) and our member Judith Pitchforth on ‘Written in stone – family reconstruction from Fulwood graveyard (Sheffield)’. \n
